A surfer was busted by the Border Patrol over the weekend for allegedly catching more than waves on his way to shore.
The 30-year-old surfer was carrying nearly 25 pounds of marijuana in a duffle bag, according to the Border Patrol. Investigators said he was spotted about 200 yards from shore off Imperial Beach at about 6 a.m. on Sunday, paddling north from Mexican waters. They said the man was holding a blue duffle bag, which he dropped in the water.
Agents arrested the surfer, who the Border Patrol said was a Mexican national.
When the bag washed ashore, agents found five packages of marijuana inside.
