Hazmat Called to Suspicious Odor in East Village

The source is coming from less than half a mile from Petco Park, said SDFD

SDFD and a hazmat team were called in to investigate a suspicious odor coming from the East Village Wednesday.

Someone was pumping waste oil, causing the odor, said Alec Phillip, a spokesperson for SDFD.

It’s not clear if the person was a contractor in the area at this time.

The source is believed to be coming from 16th Street, less than half of a mile from Petco Park, according to Phillip.
