Gym Member Allegedly Lifted More Than Just Weights

A 36-year-old Mira Mesa woman stole at least $20,000 worth of loot, including from lockers, at a 24 Hour Fitness Center in Santee, authorities said.

Tina Waider was arrested while working out at the Santee gym Thursday morning, Sgt. Tom Poulin said.

"Waider defeated the locks in the locker room with a simple homemade device and stored the stolen property in her gym bag, which she had placed in her locker," Poulin said, adding that other stolen items were found in her car.

Among the stolen items found in her possession were a $1,600 watch and a purse whose contents were estimated at more than $400, Poulin said.

A later search of her home revealed hundreds more stolen items, including gift cards, jewelry, makeup and high-end clothing, according to Poulin.

Waider was booked into Las Colinas Detention Facility on suspicion of burglary, grand theft and possession of stolen property. Bail was set at $65,000. Normal 0
