Detectives are searching for a man who allegedly stole more than $20,000 worth of custom jewelry from a car parked at Horton Plaza mall in downtown San Diego.

According to investigators, the theft happened on Apr. 1 at around 11:50 a.m. An unknown man -- captured by a nearby surveillance camera -- took a number of valuable rings, necklaces, earrings and watches from a vehicle.

Authorities describe him as a short, unshaven, 20 to 25-year-old man with a medium complexion. He has a normal to muscular build and was wearing a polo-style shirt with blue and grey horizontal stripes, a large silver and black wristwatch and brown dress shoes at the time of the incident.
