Concert Fight Spills into Gaslamp Streets

At one point around 1500 people were crowded into the area near E street and 4th Avenue

Dozens of police officers responded after concertgoers inside a Gaslamp club turned violent Tuesday and the melee spilled into the streets.

At one point around 1500 people were crowded into the area near E street and 4th Avenue officials said.

Officers showed up in force, breaking up fights and clearing the scene of club goers who were angry about being forced out of a concert.

The concert inside the Belo club featured the hip-hop artist 2Chainz.

An employee at the club said they were forced to evacuate concert goers after a huge fight broke out inside.

It spilled on to the streets where several people were injured. At least two people were taken away in ambulances.

Witnesses to the melee told NBCSanDiego the most intense moments however came as people were exiting the club.

Some of the concert goers said they saw people sprayed with pepper spray and stunned with a taser gun in the chaos.

Police, despite the initial urgency of their call, say they were able to control things quickly and prevent a riot.
