Gas Leak Reported in Crown Point

A gas main break has been reported in the Crown Point area of Pacific Beach, San Diego Fire-Rescue officials confirmed Thursday.

The break was reported just after 10:30 a.m. on Jewell Street near Moorland Drive, according to San Diego Gas & Electric spokesperson Joe Britton said.

A third-party contractor using an excavator hit a service line, interrupting service to 18 customers.

School officials at the nearby Crown Point Elementary School said the school was not affected by the leak.

The gas leak was controlled about an hour later. SDG&E said it was unsure when service would be restored.

A previous address given for the gas leak by SDFD and SDG&E officials was incorrect.
