Gas Leak in La Jolla Prompts Small Evacuation

Two homes were evacuated as a precaution against fire

Two La Jolla residences were evacuated Saturday afternoon after nearby construction crews struck a gas line, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department officials.

The leak was reported at about 11:36 a.m.  on Alta La Jolla Drive near Caminito Cardelina, officials said. Authorities said they evacuated the two neighboring houses as a precaution.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Officials with SDG&E were dispatched to the scene, officials said.
