Four University of California San Diego students were involved in a head-on collision Saturday night when a suspected drunk driver veered into their lane and struck them in University City, San Diego police said.
One student, in his early 20s, was transported to a hospital after the suspect's Toyota truck clipped the Nissan sedan at 11:41 p.m. on the 9500 block of Genesee Avenue.
The victim suffered a lacerated liver and spleen, police said. The other passengers sustained only minor injuries.
The male driver of the truck was also taken to a local trauma unit for observation.
He will receive a felony charge for allegedly driving under the influence, police said.
