It took them over seven quarters, but the San Diego Fleet finally got in the end zone. Thanks to a pair of visits in the fourth quarter against Atlanta, they also got their first win.

Atlanta grabbed a 9-0 lead in the first quarter after Matt Simms hit Malachi Jones for a touchdown - just two plays after San Diego's Philip Nelson threw an interception on the team's first drive.

Former SDSU kicker Donny Hageman kept San Diego afloat, scoring the Fleet's first nine points. He finished the game with four field goals, and is six-for-six through two games.

Mike Martz's offense woke up in the fourth quarter. Gardner broke through from eight yards on fourth and one. On their next drive he ran up the middle for a seven yard score.

San Diego's defense stood tall. They allowed just 222 yards, had three sacks and eight tackles for loss.

The Fleet stay home this week, and get a visit from San Antonio Sunday at 5:00 p.m. The Commanders topped San Diego 15-6 in week one.
