Fleeing Bank Robbers Flood Street With Cash

A group of bank robbers tossed cash out the window of their getaway car after the money was stained with dye, police said.

Three or four men robbed the Pacific Western Bank Monday yesterday and fled with a bag full of cash, according to police. What they didn't realize was that a dye pack was hidden inside. Police said that when the bills were stained, the men dumped their loot out.

Officers found some bills and a handgun on the road, some children reported finding cash and checks elsewhere, and a postal carrier also reported picking up some money.

They were seen getting into a white vehicle with paper plates, described as possibly a Lexus IS300, and driving off on Bernardo Center Drive. Witnesses told police one robber wore a "Scream" Halloween mask and the others had black bandannas over their faces.
