A half-acre brush fire burned between two structures in Lakeside Thursday, according to officials.
The fire started around 5 p.m. in a canyon near Los Coches Road and Interstate 8.
Smoke was visible near the highway and burned in light to medium fuel.
After nearly an hour, firefighters got an upper hand on the fire and the majority of the area was cleared.
No injuries were reported and there was no damage to structures, officials said.
The highway remained open during the incident.
