Firefighters Rescue Dog That Fell into 60 Foot Hole

A dog named Rocky that fell into a 60 foot deep hole near Malibu was rescued by fire fighters equipped with lunchmeat Tuesday.

Rocky, a French Bulldog, was walking with his owner around 9:00 a.m. when he stumbled into a 2 foot wide by 60 foot deep septic drill hole.

LA County fire responded. To get the dog out, the rescuers hoisted a laundry basket filled with some lunch meat down to the bottom and attempted to coax Rocky in.

It took nearly 45 minutes but eventually Rocky made it back to ground level and a happy owner.

The dog was taken to a nearby veterinarian to be examined. Amazingly, he didn't sustain any serious injuries. Fire fighters believe that water may have broken his fall.
