Fire Engulfs Home Under Remodel in Scripps Ranch

Nearby residents were awakened by the sound of fire engines and the fire in the sky.

Fire gutted a home undergoing a remodel in Scripps Ranch early Friday.

The fire originally started in the garage of the home on Rue Chamberry just before 11 p.m. It then led up to the second floor.

Officials said the garage was gutted by flames.

Nearby residents were awakened by the sound of fire engines and the fire in the sky.

“I looked out back and saw this glow in the sky. Then we ran outside and came up here and saw fire engines all over the place,” said neighbor Bill Hughes.

The family that lives in the two-story home was not sleeping there because the home was undergoing some remodeling, officials said.

Firefighters originally knocked out the flames around 11:30 p.m. Soon after, the fire started up again and crews were able to finally extinguish the fire 10 minutes later.

Twenty-five crew members were here and also went through an extensive overhaul phase to make sure investigators could come in.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
