Fire Engulfs Vacant El Cajon House

Firefighters knocked down a fire that has engulfed a boarded up home in El Cajon on Wednesday afternoon.

Fire officials said the fire started inside a the home believed to be vacant in the 1300 block of South Magnolia Avenue. The fire broke out just after 4 p.m.

By 5 p.m., firefighters had extinguished the fire.

It was unclear exactly how it started, but fire officials believe the blaze began outside and then spread inside the home. 

Officials said the home had a boarded up garage and was known to attract homeless people to stay inside. The house had been vacant when the fire started and no one was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
