Fire Rages Through Spring Valley Home

Firefighters rushed to a blaze at a home in Spring Valley, and less than a half-hour later, flames had burned through most of the structure.

Dispatchers got a call about the fire at the single family home near the intersection of  Kenwood Drive and Bancroft Street in Spring Valley around 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Heartland Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived a short time later, and said heavy smokes and flames were visible. A second alarm company was called for and dispatched, but the house was soon fully engulfed. Officials evacuated some of the surrounding homes, which were very close by. It's not yet known if any of them were damaged.
