Fire Destroys Mobile Home in El Cajon

A fire destroyed a mobile home in El Cajon early Saturday morning, according to fire officials with Heartland Fire & Rescue.

The blaze began at approximately 1:30 a.m. at the Turn In Trailer Park in the 200 block of South Second Street.

When fire crews arrived, a trailer was fully engulfed in flames, threatening other nearby trailers.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire within 10 minutes. Officials said the resident of the mobile home was able to escape safely. No injuries were reported.

Officials said the trailer was a total loss, with damages are estimated at $15,000. Some neighboring trailers sustained minor damage from smoke and heat.

The displaced resident is staying with neighbors for now. Officials said the owner of the trailer park is also assisting.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
