Fire Stops Spreading Near Witch Creek

CAL Fire has firefighters at the scene

A vegetation fire burned near Witch Creek Thursday afternoon, according to CAL Fire.

Firefighters are on the scene of a 20-acre blaze off state Route 78 that began around 2:15 p.m.

Officials said that shortly before 3:20 p.m., the fire stopped spreading. Firefighters will be on the scene for a few more hours putting out hot spots.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.

In October 2007, the Witch Creek Wildfires damaged about 44,000 acres of federal land in the Cleveland National Forest.
