FedEx Truck Hits Car, 2 Dead

The car was broadsided by the truck

A FedEx truck slammed into an out of control car on Interstate 805 Monday night killing two restaurant workers, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A black Honda Civic lost control around 10 p.m. near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and was broadsided by the FedEx truck, according to CHP.

Thoy Insixiengmay, 56, was sitting in the front seat of the Honda when it went out of control and spun into traffic lanes, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. She died at the scene.

Tem Thirakul, 59, was sitting in the back seat. Thirakul also died at the scene.

Both women worked at a restaurant and lived in Clairemont Mesa, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

A third woman in the car was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but officers say fog was not a factor.
