Father: Find My Son's Killer

Mesa College Student Stabbed Near SDSU

The father of a Mesa College student stabbed to death at San Diego State University says he hopes his son's killer will turn himself in.

Luis Santos, 22, was killed early Saturday morning.  Police said that he and a group of friends were walking down 55th Street near Peterson Gym Drive when they got into a fight with four men.  Santos died across the street from the campus police department.

Homicide detectives told NBC 7/39 they have surveillance video connected to the fatal brawl, but they would not say what, if anything, the video captured.

Fred Santos told the San Diego Union-Tribune that he hopes anyone who has information will help police solve the case.  But when the killer is caught, he would not want him to face the death penalty.

"Maybe out of conscience; maybe he didn't mean to kill anyone,” said Fred Santos, 51, of Concord in the Bay Area told the Union-Tribune.  "A second tragedy would be waiting to happen if the family of the people who did this have to suffer.  There's nothing anybody can do to bring my son back."

Three other men were wounded in the attack.

Funeral arrangements for Santos are set for this Saturday in his hometown of Concord in the Bay Area.

San Diego police are urging anyone with information to call authorities.
