Raul Cadena, 49, was the front seat passenger of an SUV that was part of a caravan line of San Diego-based Boy Scout Troop 59. The troop was heading to Borrego Springs for a bicycling event.

According to Cal Fire and California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials, the driver of the SUV lost control and slammed into a tree in a ditch in the northbound lane of State Route 79 near Santa Ysabel in unincorporated San Diego County.
