A 48-year-old man was killed after being hit by a trolley in El Cajon Wednesday afternoon, according to El Cajon Police Department.
The man stepped off the platform, resulting in the fatal strike. The incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. at the Arnelle & Marshall Avenue stop. It is unknown why he stepped out, according to MTS.
Witnesse said the victim walked from the trolley platform onto the trolley tracks and into the path of the oncoming southbound trolley. The trolley driver immediately attempted to stop by activating the emergency brake and sounding the federal emergency horn. The pedestrian attempted to retreat to the trolley platform however he was struck by the oncoming trolley.
