One Killed in Hit and Run

The fatal hit and run happened in El Cajon around noon

Police are investigating a fatal hit and run that happened in El Cajon Saturday.

According to authorities, the incident occurred at 12:05 p.m. on the 300 block of Orlando Street.
Police said a female victim in her 50s was involved in some kind of argument with the driver of an older light blue Chevrolet truck, possibly model year 1969 to 1972.

Witnesses told police that during the argument the woman climbed out of the truck while it was still moving and fell to the ground.

The driver then ran her over and took off.

The woman died at the scene, police said. Her name has not yet been released.

β€œShe fell from the vehicle and was run over by the vehicle and the vehicle didn't stop or stay at the scene. We have no indications now what compelled her to get out of the vehicle, we're still investigating that, it's still very preliminary,” explained Lt. Frank La Haye of the El Cajon Police Department.

A suspect description was not immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
