Teen Found Dead in Fallbrook Identified

San Diego County Sheriff's Deputies were called to East Fallbrook St. near Potter St. around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday

Officials have identified a Fallbrook teenager found dead in the middle of the road.

San Diego County Sheriff's Deputies were called to East Fallbrook St. near Potter St. around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday when a driver reported striking a body that was already in the middle of the street.

The body was later identified as Alfonso Martinez, 17.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner listed the cause of death as blunt force injuries of head and torso.

What's still unclear is what killed Martinez.

Investigators have said they don’t know why the teenager was in the roadway prior to the collision or how he got there.

Deputies said they’re not sure if another vehicle may have struck the teenager and fled the scene.
