FBI Seeks 4 Notorious SD Bank Robbers

Beer Gut, Bomb, Yo-Yo and Button Down. Those are names the FBI wants to you remember because they are the names of dangerous bank robbers who are still on the run.

“We don't want to go into 2014 with unfinished business,” said FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth.

That unfinished business would be catching the four men the FBI says are serial bank robbers, collectively responsible for hitting 18 banks across San Diego County in unrelated heists.

"We want people to take a second, third look at these photographs because we think they are very good quality. There's someone out there that should be able to identify this person,” Foxworth said.

The nicknames that go with the pictures are easy to remember. There’s the Button Down Robber. Foxworth says that thief alone is responsible for eight bank robberies. The Beer Gut Bandit is fingered for hitting four banks last summer. The Bomb Bandit, they say, passes notes to tellers saying he has a bomb. The Yo-Yo Bandit likes to hit banks inside of grocery stores while on his cell phone.

"We don't believe that any of these bank robbers are working together. We believe that these are four separate individuals, conducting their bank robberies independent of one another,” added Foxworth.

Foxworth says they're responsible for stealing tens of thousands of dollars. Now, officials want the public to help put them in prison.

The robbers threaten the lives of tellers and the lives of customers, often in the bank, demanding money and if they don't comply with their demands they will do bodily harm.

There have been 80 bank robberies in San Diego County this, compared to 74 in 2012.

Anyone with information on any of these suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers or the FBI.
