Everyone Safe in Clairemont Fire

A remodeling project may have led to a fire in Clairemont Monday.

The fire started around 5:45 p.m. at a condominium in the 41-hundred block of Genesee Avenue.

Smoke could be seen coming from the roof when crews arrived. Police had to shut down the street as firefighters battled the blaze.

The condo owner told NBC 7 the fire may have been caused by wiring from a hot water tank being installed. Fire officials are investigating the official cause.

Residents were evacuated as a precaution, but no one was hurt. Crews had the fire knocked down by 6:30 p.m.
