Man Shot Multiple Times on Escondido Street

Witnesses say two men ran from the scene on Gamble Street

Shots were fired on a main street in Escondido, less than a block away from two elementary schools.

Escondido police got multiple 911 calls at about 1:15 p.m. reporting a shooting on Gamble Street near El Norte Parkway.

A man with multiple gunshot wounds was rushed to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Witnesses told police they saw two men running from the scene but only one of the men were involved in the shooting.

No arrests were made.

The location of the incident was a half block west of Farr Elementary School and a half block east of Lincoln Elementary School. Farr Elementary was briefly on lockdown.

Officials initially included a suspect vehicle in the incident but now say no vehicles were involved.
