Escondido School Board to Issue Pink Slips

The Escondido Union School District voted Monday to send layoff notices to about 40 full time workers, which includes about 20 elementary teaching positions.

The board is making the cuts in what the district calls a worst-case budget scenario which would be about $6 million less than projected.

It will be months before the district knows how much money it will get
from the state for the 2011 school year but the district is required to notify, by March 15, certified employees who may lose their jobs.

You can read more about how budget reductions could impact Escondido schools, in the North County Times.
