Escondido Murder Suspect Arrested

Christopher James Selenak allegedly stabbed his ex-wife's boyfriend to death in her home Saturday morning

Police have arrested a suspect wanted for allegedly stabbing a man to death in an Escondido townhome early Saturday morning.

According to investigators, the stabbing occurred around 4:30 a.m. on the 800 block of North Fig Street.

A woman called police to report that her ex-husband, Christopher James Selenak, had stabbed her current boyfriend inside her home. She fled to a friend’s house to call police.

When officers arrived at the townhome, they found the victim, 23-year-old Fernando Arellano, unconscious in one of the rooms.

He had sustained a large stab wound to his torso, according to police.

Selenak had fled the scene.

Paramedics attempted to treat Arellano, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The woman told authorities that her ex-husband, Selenak, did not live with her. She said she had been with her current boyfriend in her home when Salenak came inside, uninvited.

The woman claimed Selenak had hurt her in the past. She told police she had a restraining order against him.

At 10:45 a.m., Selenak was found at 1250 Keystone Way in Vista.

He was taken into custody for the murder.
