Elderly Woman Attacked in Escondido

Police said an unknown male entered the woman's home and attacked her

An elderly woman was attacked by an unknown intruder inside her Escondido home Friday afternoon.

Escondido police said the incident happened around 3:50 p.m. on the 1900 block of Glenridge Road.

The woman's family said she was gardening.

Officers said a male trespassed onto the woman’s property and attacked her, hitting her with a piece of wood before leaving.

When officers arrived they canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Police said the attacker is described as a 17-year-old Hispanic male who’s approximately 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighs 150-pounds.

He was last seen wearing jeans and plaid shirt.

The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for injuries. She’s expected to recover from the attack, according to police.
