Eight Units Damaged in Apt Fire

Firefighters say an oven caused a fire that raced through an apartment complex in Mira Mesa leaving more than a dozen people homeless.

The fire started around 10 p.m. Monday, in the 9000-block of Erma Road near Miramar Ranch.

A 2-story building, with 16 units, burned after fire started in a first-story apartment.

Firefighters say eight of the units were heavily damaged.

Eleven adults and three children were forced out of their homes.

No one was injured.
