East Coast Storms Ground Several San Diego Flights

A massive snow storm on the East Coast was impacting some flights out of San Diego International Airport on Friday.

Several flights to cities such as Washington D.C., Baltimore, Newark, Philadelphia and Charlotte were canceled or delayed. Up to 2 feet of snow was expected to bury parts of the East Coast; the blizzard warnings stretch from New York to Washington D.C.

Across the country, more than 2,400 flights were impacted.

From the flight tracker, it appeared only a handful of flights out of San Diego were grounded or delayed โ€“ so far.

At San Diegoโ€™s airport, several nervous travelers were watching the flight status boards in hopes they could travel to the East Coast on Friday.

Jodi Nightingale, who was traveling to South Carolina, told NBC 7 that she hopes she could make it home that day.

โ€œFor me, I travel for a living, so Iโ€™m just going head that direction and get as far as I can,โ€ she said.

Other travelers told us they were cleared to head to Boston, where flights were on time.

Flights coming to San Diego from the East Coast appeared on Friday morning not to be impacted.
