Dumanis Feeling ‘Great' After Exchanging Vows

Wished her late father could have attended

San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis is speaking out about marrying her partner of 11 years.

She wed her longtime partner, Denise Neleson in a private ceremony in September, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

"I feel great.  It's great to have the opportunity to get married after 11 years," she said.

The wedding took place overlooking the ocean in late September, just before a State Bar of California conference, the Union Tribune reported.   She said she wished her late father could have been there because of his support for her relationship.

As for why she decided to get hitched, the district attorney said, "It was important to get married now because of Proposition 8.  I am of course hoping other people will have the same opportunity."

She said she hopes people will vote no on the measure that would amend the state constitution and ban same-sex marriage.
