Dog Shot in El Cajon

It is unknown if the dog belonged to somebody in the area

A dog was fatally shot in El Cajon on Tuesday night, according to police.

Police received a call shortly before 8 p.m. about a shot fired at 500 Millar Ave. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a dog run about 25 yards before collapsing.

The medium-sized, mixed breed dog died as a result of its injuries.

A witness saw a car leaving the area when the shot was fired, but could not identify the vehicle.

Police said the dog appeared to be clean and taken care of, but it was not wearing a collar. It is unknown if the dog belonged to somebody in the area.

El Cajon Police Department is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 619-579-3311.
