SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- A pair of quakes shake the border just hours after a larger one rattled Southern California.

Two small earthquakes rumbled along the Mexico border on Friday morning. The U.S. Geological Survey issued preliminary measurements of the 3.3- and a 3.0-magnitude quakes striking a little before 5 a.m. The quakes were in northern Baja California, near Mexicali, about 125 miles east of San Diego.
 
A Mexicali newspaper's Web site made no immediate mention of any damage or injuries.
 
The USGS measured a 4.5-magnitude quake at 7:49 p.m. Thursday just south of San Bernardino, about 55 miles east of Los Angeles.
 
That temblor could be felt from Los Angeles to the border.
 
Some shops reported stock falling from shelves but there was no major damage or injuries.
