Deputy Assaulted in Fallbrook

Juvenile repeatedly punches deputy in head and face

A Fallbrook minor suspected of being drunk in public was taken to Juvenile Hall Friday night after he attacked a sheriff.

The deputy sheriff attempted to arrest the teen for being drunk in public at approximately 10 p.m. on the 1100 block of S. Vine St. in Fallbrook, said Sgt. Patrick Yates from the Fallbrook Sheriff's Station.

The teen then pulled away from the deputy and began punching the deputy’s face and head, Yates said.

The deputy wrestled the teen to the ground until other deputies arrived to the scene to assist him. After the altercation, deputies determined that the teen had allegedly burglarized a nearby vehicle. He was also in possession of tobacco.

The suspect was also arrested on May 20 on suspicion of vehicle burglary. At that time, he was found in possession of property which had been stolen in another vehicle burglary.
