Deputies Investigate Fatal Shooting in Fallbrook Gated Community

The victim was found at a home at the end of a cul-de-sac in the Peppertree Park gated community

The sound of multiple gunshots awoke residents of a gated community in Fallbrook and led San Diego County sheriff's deputies to the scene of a homicide early Tuesday.

Deputies arrived to the home on Braemar Terrace just after 8 a.m. Tuesday after residents called reporting gunfire.

An injured man could be seen inside the home, deputies said.

A team of deputies made their way inside and discovered the man was dead.

The man’s wife and two children were inside the home at the time, officials told NBC 7.

No one else was injured and there was no suspect in custody.

After several hours on scene, a sheriff’s department spokesperson confirmed the death is being investigated as a homicide, not a suicide. A media briefing was planned for 3 p.m.

The home is located at the end of a cul-de-sac in the Peppertree Park gated community.

The community has an entrance along South Mission Road at Sterling Bridge.

The home's backyard leads to an open field.
