SDPD: Possibility of More Victims in Alleged Dental Assistant Sexual Assault

Investigators have been able to identify at least one woman as a possible additional victim, prosecutors said Tuesday

Investigators are looking through more than 500 hours of surveillance video tape taken inside a patient recovery room where prosecutors claim a dental assistant sexually assaulted a teenager while she was under sedation.

Luis Ramos, 36, of El Cajon faces charges of sexual battery on an unconscious person and oral copulation by anesthetic. The dental assistant was taken into custody on Feb. 3, nearly two weeks after a 17-year-old told San Diego Police she was inappropriately touched while undergoing a dental procedure at the Park Boulevard Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Office at 4067 Park Boulevard.

She reportedly woke up from the anesthesia and realized he was touching her.

Ramos appeared in a downtown courtroom Tuesday for a bail review hearing. His defense attorney argued against an increase in bail saying her client has no criminal record and served in the U.S. military.

Deputy District Attorney Martin Doyle told the court Tuesday that police have received 15 calls from women who have seen the news of Ramos' arrest.

Investigators have been able to identify at least one of those women as a possible additional victim.

Investigators say the initial incident from Jan 21 was allegedly caught on a seven minute clip of the dental office's security video.

Ramos no longer works at the clinic according to an office manager.

Ramos, whose dental assistant license was issued two years ago, was being held on $2 million bail. His bail has now been reduced to $100,000.
