Hoover High Students and Staff Surprise Selfless Employee with New Car

A popular employee at Hoover High School received the biggest surprise of her life Monday afternoon.

Debra Ann Davis, affectionately referred to as Aunt Debbie, is a beloved food service worker at Hoover. She also helps feed homeless throughout the county.

Students and staff at the school wanted to pay her back for her kindness and warm heart, so with the help of State Farm, they presented her with a new 2014 Mazda 3 to replace her old, unreliable car from the late 70s.

State Farm donated the car through Kids for Peace's Great Kindness Challenge and then students in the auto technician program at Morse High School fixed it up.

Davis could hardly contain her excitement when she saw her new ride for the first time, dancing and screaming to a large crowd’s applause.
