Deadly Stabbing in Grantville Parking Lot

Two men were stabbed in front of a shopping center, one died at the hospital Saturday morning

Police are investigating a deadly stabbing that happened in the parking lot of a shopping center in Grantville early Saturday morning.

Police said the stabbing took place around 12:24 a.m. on the 10450 block of Friars Road.

Officers arrived to find a large fight and two men suffering from stab wounds at the scene. The suspect involved in the stabbing had already fled in a small green or teal sedan, according to police.

Investigators said an argument broke out in front of a restaurant where a birthday party was being held inside. It is still unclear what, exactly, the argument was about.

The two injured men were transported to the hospital.

One victim was treated and is expected to survive.

The other man, 25-year-old Christopher Manzon, sustained more severe injuries from the stabbing and died at the hospital at 8:22 a.m. Saturday morning, authorities said.

On Sunday morning, police confirmed they had arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal Grantville stabbing.

Detectives took 24-year-old suspect Jim Duc Nguyen into custody after they located him at a relative’s home in Del Cerro.

Nguyen was booked into San Diego County jail for the alleged murder of Manzon and for the alleged attempted murder of the other victim.
