Danny Freeman

Danny Freeman is thrilled and grateful to be sharing your stories as a reporter for NBC 7.

Originally from Huntington, New York, Danny began his journalism career shortly after graduating from Dartmouth College. He first worked for a news website in Medellin, Colombia and reported on Colombia’s 2014 presidential election. After that unforgettable experience, he was determined to come back to the states to report. That journey began at NBC News in New York City. As an NBCUniversal Page, Danny worked at the NBC News Decision Desk during the 2014 midterm elections and at The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC.

Danny then joined NBC Nightly News, which ultimately propelled him into a dream job covering the 2016 presidential race for NBC News on the road. Traveling to over 40 states, Puerto Rico, the U.S. / Mexico border and the Vatican, Danny covered several candidates including President Trump during the Iowa Caucuses; he embedded with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders; and he reported on many high profile Democratic surrogates such as former Vice President Joe Biden, former President Bill Clinton and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Following the inauguration, Danny joined the NBC Owned Station Group first as a reporter at KGET 17 News in Bakersfield, California before becoming a reporter at NBC 7 in San Diego.

Danny has reported for Regional Edward R. Murrow and Emmy award-winning broadcasts in Southern California.
