DA: Cops Were Justified in Shooting, Killing Man

Authorities say two San Diego police officers were justified in the shooting death of a man who had just stabbed to death his estranged wife and charged officers.

District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis ruled yesterday that Officers Arthur Scott and John Thompson were justified in shooting 51-year-old Willard Anthony Bradley when he came at them with a blood-soaked knife and slashed a police dog during the March 20 incident.

Officers later found the body of his 50-year-old wife Gail.

Dumanis found that because the officers were acting in self defense, they bore no criminal liability for shooting Bradley.

The dog survived.
