Brush Fire in Unincorporated Escondido Sparked by Fireworks: Cal Fire

A 4-acre brush fire that erupted on a mountain on Rincon Avenue in unincorporated Escondido Tuesday was started by fireworks, Cal fire said.

An agency spokesperson said two misdemeanor citations were issued for use of illegal fireworks.

Cal Fire said the small fire near Fawn Creek Lane sparked at around 11 p.m. Monday in an area difficult to reach by firefighters.

Crews with Cal Fire and Escondido Fire were sent to battle the blaze that was moving at a slow rate of spread and was not threatening any structures. 

The fire was 30 percent contained by 5:30 a.m. and 100 percent contained by 6 p.m.
