A construction crane loomed precariously over the northbound Interstate 805 after it rolled over from its work site Saturday, causing concern that it may flip into traffic.
The crane is part of the construction for a new overpass for Palomar Street in Chula Vista.
Around 12:45 p.m., the Chula Vista Police said somehow, the large piece of equipment tipped away from the work site and landed upside down on the slope leading down to the freeway's edge.
The operator inside, who was ejected but not trapped, is being treated for a head injury.
Police said the crash may impact the 805 northbound lanes as they turned the crane rightside up and clear the incident, but no delays were reported.
