Officials have identified a Las Vegas couple killed in a solo-vehicle crash Sunday in San Diego.
Sergio Manzo, 23, and his 22-year-old wife Brenda Alejandra Vasquez died when their vehicle rolled on Interstate 805 near Market Street.
The couple was riding in the driver and front passenger seats of a Nissan Versa when the car veered off the highway and into the dirt. The car ended up sandwiched between the guardrail and a concrete support beam.
California Highway Patrol officers said vehicles aren't made to withstand that type of force.
Three other passengers, a 34-year-old woman, a 29-year-old man and an unidentified 16-year-old, were transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital, UC San Diego Medical Center and Scripps Mercy Hospital, respectively, with what officials described as life-threatening or major injuries. Those three passengers were all from San Diego.
CHP investigators have not released a cause of the crash.
