Couple Brutally Beaten in Lemon Grove: Deputies

63-year-old man and his wife, 70, were knocked to the ground several times

A couple was brutally beaten in Lemon Grove on Wednesday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s department.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. when a 63-year-old man and his wife, 70, were behind a strip mall in the 7000 block of Broadway. The couple was collecting cardboard to sell when the suspect approached them and then allegedly beat both victims several times, knocking them to the ground.

Detectives have identified the suspect as Wyatt Bradley, 24. Deputies said that Bradley attempted to take the couple’s car but the vehicle would not start.

The man and woman both suffered lacerations to the face and head. The man was treated at Sharp Memorial Hospital and released, but his wife is still hospitalized with a possible brain injury, according to deputies.

Bradley is in custody and is charged with elder abuse and assault with a deadly weapon.
