County Accepts Donation to Equip More Vehicles With Locators

The County Board of Supervisors accepted a $276,000 donation that will equip emergency response vehicles with automatic vehicle locators (AVL).

AVLs give dispatchers the ability to send the closest crew to the location of an emergency call.

Currently 112 San Diego County Authority and Cal Fire vehicles have the equipment. An additional 80 units will be outfitted with the San Diego Regional Fire Foundation grant.

SDG&E donated the funds for the Fire Foundation’s grant.

More than 75 percent of emergency vehicles at the San Diego County Fire Authority and CAL FIRE will have AVL's to help fight fires.
