Cougar Collared

A 130-pound mountain lion was captured and released last week by wildlife biologists.

The cougar was caught on the Santa Rosa Plateau by researchers attempting to monitor the area's mountain lions. The male big cat was thought to be 3 to 4 years old and is now among 45 being monitored in San Diego, Riverside and Orange counties with the aid of radio collars.

The Cougar Project began in 2000.
