Cops: Woman In Stolen Van Led High-Speed Chase

A woman was taken into custody after El Cajon police and the California Highway Patrol chased a stolen van at high speeds across San Diego County.

El Cajon police spotted a stolen Grossmont Hospital van around 3 a.m. and initiated a traffic stop. They said the woman driving the white van refused to yield, however, and took off, leading them on a 40-minute chase that ended in Point Loma.

During the pursuit, the van ran several red lights and stop signs, and hit a patrol car.

The driver tried to run away after the chase ended, so officers shot her with a Taser gun.

Investigators said there were also two men in the van, one of who was a wanted parolee.

Police said they found drug paraphenilia and identity-theft items in the van.
