Sketch of Accused Attacker in Sex Assault

Police say the victim tried to fight off her attacker.

Police have released a sketch of a man they say beat and sexually assaulted a woman near Teralta Park.

The 36-year-old woman was walking on a path between Teralta Park and University Avenue at about 8.30 p.m. Sunday when she was approached by the suspect, police said.

β€œThe male asked the victim questions she did not understand due to a language barrier and tried to explain that to him,” said Lt. Anastasia Smith.

The suspect allegedly grabbed the woman.

β€œShe fought with him, but he pushed her to the ground where he beat and sexually assaulted her,” said Lt. Smith.

After the alleged attack, police say the suspect walked away northbound on the bike path.

The suspect is described as being in his mid to late 20's, about 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall with a heavy to muscular build. He had short black hair, no facial hair, a round face and thin lips, police said.

β€œAt the time of the assault, he was wearing a white t-shirt and shorts that went below the knee with white stripes on the outer seams,” said Lt. Anastasia Smith.
