The girl was walking  to El Capitan High School in the 10100 block of Maine Avenue shortly before 7 a.m.  when a man in a car pulled up and offered her a ride.  When the girl said no, the man got out of the car and put his hand on her shoulder.  The teen was able to get away, San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Larry Nesbit said.

The man was described as his 40s, around 5'8" and 200 lbs, with black and gray hair. He was last seen driving north on state Route 67 in a newer silver, two-door Mitsubishi Eclipse with tinted rear windows, Nesbit said.

The girl said he wore a dark blue pullover jacket, dark blue jeans and a plain black baseball cap, Nesbit said.
